Pet Shop

A pet shop is a place where dogs, cats, birds, rabbits, reptiles, rodents and other animals not born and raised on those premises are kept for the purpose of sale to the public. Many of our clients are very satisfied with the pets they acquire from a pet store. When choosing a pet from a pet store, it is important to purchase from a clean and well cared for environment. Puppies and kittens especially need human socialization during critical phases of their early life. It is important to determine where the puppy or kitten has been prior to coming to the store. With large groups of animals coming into a pet shop, there is a greater risk that your new pet has been exposed to disease. Look for a pet shop with a knowledgeable staff who are aware of disease prevention and control. The Humane Society of America is working on the elimination of puppy mills because of the cruelty they inflict on the adult dogs there. Please visit their website at

www.hsus.org/ It is important not to support puppy mills by purchasing your pet from a store that supports this practice.
